Devlog #2: New Animations & Demo Progress

Happy Tuesday, everyone! I’m getting closer and closer to having enough ready for a short demo! Woo-hoo!!!! I’ll finally have something available to download and that means Dreamtrotter will be able to be found when searching on itch.io!

But before we get to more on that, I want to show you a few things!

We’ve got movement! Previously, when Moira and Apollo attacked, their weapon appeared next to them, but there was no sprite change. Now you’ll see them move along with the weapons! I’ve also updated the dash animation to make things less static. It makes a huge difference for me while playtesting, so I hope others will enjoy seeing the characters be a little more animated, too!

The Demo!

I’m planning on the first demo to take you through the tutorial and first mini boss.  So you’ll get to learn how the game is played and a bit about the story. Since it’s still very early in development, there won’t be too much to do besides play around with the mechanics some, but I’ll try my best to make it worth the download!

Speaking of bosses… here’s a video of testing out a WIP intro to our first mini boss (Mr. Dipsy). He won’t appear as you see him in the video, but I did settle on him being a clown … because what’s a circus without a menacing clown?? Designing and developing a boss for a platformer game using RMMV (well, any engine) is a first for me, so I definitely see this being a challenge.... But I'll take it on & win!!!

Who’s that Pokemon? …Uh, a Voltorb with an Aipom on its head…? Nope, it’s Dipsy!

That’s all for now! See you in another week or so! 😊
