So I entered a game jam! Colorbound is my first ever completed game jam entry. I've tried entering a couple before but ran out of time during both. I'm so excited (and nervous) to have finished and to be participating in IGMC! There are a TON of awesome-looking submissions that I can't wait to try out. It's wild seeing Colorbound next to them! 

Early game design

About Colorbound

Colorbound was inspired by many of my favorite childhood games and cartoons. My biggest inspirations were Drawn to Life and Hamtaro for the GBC. I love games that have colorful, fun characters,  and that's what I tried to do with Colorbound. I wanted to make something that gave players a feeling of "playing a cartoon" with the CGs while still incorporating some handheld game staples like chiptune music and pixel art. I don't know how well I managed to do that this time around, so I'm looking forward to hearing feedback!

Known Bugs

There are a couple of known bugs in this build that I didn't have time to fix during the game jam  but have plans to fix after judging:

• The game name says Bus Buddy lol... There were a few name/plot changes to the project before I decided to go with this one. I couldn't figure out how to rename the game without running into some issues so ... Bus Buddy it is!
• In the third area of the Forest Garden, the dialogue for the leeches sometimes repeats itself.
• When Mint calls the Mega Leech "ugly" in the boss level, the boss is supposed to have a sad emoji pop up, but his sprite size covered it up :(

Art Album Missing Image

I noticed today the game is failing to read one of the art album pictures (Art_8). The file failed to be encrypted with the rest of the images during deployment, so the game isn't picking it up. ( T -   T  ) This really, really sucks. But! You can still play through the game in its entirety;  the bonus art at the end just won't be viewable without some tweaking.

I can't reupload a newly deployed version, but if you want to view the picture out of the game, you'll find it in the game's files under www > img > pictures > Art_8. 

And if you want to see the full gallery in-game, please delete Art_8.png, make a copy of Art_7.rmmvp and then rename it to Art_8. Voila! The (band-aid version) in-game gallery is back in action!
