Devlog #5 - Assets & Animations!

What's up, everyone?  PixelatedBree here with another update on how my project is coming along! Lots of pictures incoming!

Asset Makin’

During the past few weeks, I’ve invested most of my game dev time in creating more assets for Dreamtrotter. I still have so much to make! I think the tilesets are the most intimidating while I have the most fun making characters.  One character that I‘ve finally brought to life is The Grimking

About The Grimking

He’s quiet, introspective, and always tries his best to be a good father to little Grimsi. Although he's missing a few parts of his body, you'll find him and his enchanted sword to be formidable foes when your paths cross.

New Feature! Short Animated Cutscenes

I've decided to include short animations for important cutscenes in the game. Here's some of what 've been working on:

Original Lineart

The first part of the colored animation. The game’s page has the extended animation in the screenshots.

Building the animatic

Mostly finished! It'll be less choppy in-game. Also proof that this game will have horror themes lol

I definitely don’t plan on making anything too complicated as far as animating goes; I’m still only learning the ropes of drawing (heck, of making games in general)! But the feedback I've gotten so far on how it looks has been positive, so I'll keep with it!

Level Design Updates

As I mentioned in my last update, I’ve been adding some overlays and lighting effects to the Midnight Circus stage. There's more depth and pretty colors to take in now! These changes will be reflected in the future full demo.

I've also added a few things to the game page. And that’s all for now!

See you next time,

Bree
